CHIPPENDALE STUDENT ACCOMODATION
STUDIO 4 | 2023
This adaptive reuse project converts an existing structure into student housing for 100 residents, merging sustainable living with community engagement. The design retains the building’s architectural character while introducing modern, comfortable apartments.
At the heart of the project is a combined greenhouse and farmers market, providing fresh, year-round produce and fostering a self-sustaining community. Students can participate in urban agriculture, while the farmers market connects them with the local community, promoting sustainability and healthy living.
Sustainability is a key focus, with energy-efficient systems, recycled materials, and natural ventilation incorporated throughout the design. The greenhouse and market not only encourage social interaction but also enhance the well-being of the residents. This adaptive reuse project is a model for sustainable urban living, providing essential housing while enriching the community through environmental stewardship and connectivity.
